Undergraduate Programs

The college offers some of the nation’s finest and most innovative undergraduate programs in the basic sciences. These programs teach students to be problem solvers who are adept at using their scientific expertise to benefit society.

Bachelor’s Degree Programs

The College offers a comprehensive array of bachelor’s degree programs and minors. Students should apply through the university’s Office of Undergraduate Admissions.

First Year Flexibility

Many College of Sciences programs have similar first years, providing students the flexibility to change majors without getting behind. For students interested in biological sciences, the Life Sciences First Year Program allows them to explore different degree options through common first year courses, academic advising and peer mentoring.

Earn Two Degrees

Students can earn bachelor’s degrees in two fields within the College or pair a Sciences degree with one in another NC State college. Many courses can satisfy core, general education or elective requirements simultaneously in both degree programs. 

Pre-Medical and Pre-Veterinary Sciences

Medical, dental, veterinary and other health-related professional schools have long regarded the core sciences as excellent preparation for their programs. The university has advising services for students interested in the health professions.

Graduate Programs

The college is a premier center for graduate study, known nationally for its top faculty and innovative interdisciplinary research. Our graduate students are the next generation of forward-thinking researchers committed to meeting the grand challenges of society.

Research for the Real World

Sciences graduate students don’t just earn degrees; they get experience. Master’s and Ph.D. students are a huge part of our research efforts, developing and publishing work that advances knowledge and solves problems. And through partnerships with industry, such as our Graduate Industrial Traineeship programs, students get real-world experience with top companies such as SAS, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and other companies in the Research Triangle.

We’re also teaching our students to communicate not just with each other, but with the public. Through our science literacy initiative, we’re arming the next generation of scientists with the skills and sense of professional responsibility to communicate science and inform of public policy.

Master’s and Ph.D. Programs

The college offers graduate degrees in a wide variety of science fields. Prospective master’s and Ph.D. students should apply through The Graduate School.
